Kate Middleton Wore This Piece of Princess Diana’s Jewelry to the G7 Summit

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are on their first international trip since they moved into the White House, and on Friday, they spent time with the royal family. The first lady enjoyed a day with Kate Middleton at a primary school in Hayle, Cornwall, to highlight their mutual commitment to early childhood education. Later, Biden joined Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William at the G-7 summit.
While at the primary school, Kate wore a red Alexander McQueen dress, which complemented the first lady’s white dress and hot-pink blazer. At the G-7 summit, she wore a white long-sleeved dress, with which she wore a very special accessory: a piece of Princess Diana’s jewelry.
She wore a three-strand pearl and diamond bracelet that belonged to William’s late mother. As People noted, Diana wore the bracelet on a a 1989 trip to Hong Kong, when she paired the accessory with the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara.
Kate has also worn the tiara on important occasions, including Prince Philip’s funeral in April. She also wore the tiara to the annual reception for members of the Diplomatic Corps in 2018.
In a “letter of wishes,” Diana, who died in August of 1997, left her jewelry to her son’s future spouses.
“I would like you to divide my personal chattels at your discretion between my sons and godchildren, the division being three quarters to my sons and one quarter to my godchildren,” she wrote. “I would like you to allocate all my jewelry to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it. I leave the exact division of the jewelry to your discretion.”
Kate received her mother-in-law’s famous sapphire engagement ring and the matching earrings. Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s wife, has her other classic ring, which features an aquamarine stone.
