Kate Middleton’s got a few style tricks up her sleeve — even when she doesn’t have them.

At the beginning of October, the Princess of Wales, 41, took a break from her regular blazer and blouse combo, opting for a gray sleeveless sweater instead. The timeless piece, which screamed fall, a theme we’ve really not yet seen with many of her recent outfits, had ribbing all over, mini slits on the sides, and a toasty mock-neck at the top.

And whether it was for more warmth or to follow royal fashion rules, she added a white button-up shirt underneath to cover up her shoulders (okay, so she did have sleeves, after all). She coordinated the look with a pair of gray Sézane slacks and plaid block heels with gray tassels for the outing.

Amarmia Mock Neck Knit Ribbed Sleeveless Sweater Vest

Amazon

Amazon

$29

The Amarmia Mock Neck Knit Ribbed Sweater Vest fits three major criteria as that of Kate’s: It has some sort of pattern or detail (i.e. ribbing) that distinguishes it from just a plain sweater vest, a neckline that’s not super low-cut, and, obviously, lacks sleeves. Plus, it’s only $29.

It’s “a wardrobe heavy lifter,” said one shopper. “I got my usual size and can wear it as a shirt and over shirts. It also looks great under blazers and other sweaters.” Additionally, a second shopper, who grabbed it in burgundy, one of 33 colors available, noted that it has a “substantial, nice stretch and lovely weave.”

If you’re really obsessed with the little slits, Madewell’s Ribbed Long Sweater Vest has them. The sweater vest is also a breathable option since it’s made from cotton, and it’s fairly loose, so you should be able to wear it over another shirt comfortably. More than 1,000 shoppers have added it to their carts in the past week, and clearly, the sale price is just another reason why — it’s now $65.

You don’t have to stay gray: The Alexia Admor Jaylani Sleeveless Turtleneck Sweater is a colorful, daring, and less intimidating way to try out the candle-apple color celebrities keep wearing (Kate, included).

Unlike the Princess’ sweater, it has a high, turtleneck style, and the sleeves appear to fall a tiny bit lower on the shoulder — it almost has a baby sleeve. And with a discount that’s more than half-off, it should be a crime to not pick up the crimson number while it’s just $60.

Kate really nailed between season dressing with her sleeveless sweater, and we know you can, too. Keep scrolling to shop more sweater vests now.
