Kate Middleton’s Name Removed from Website That Hinted at Return to Royal Duty Following Surgery

The Princess of Wales was previously listed as attending an engagement on June 8 on the British army's official website

The British army has retreated – over Kate Middleton!

The Princess of Wales, 42, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, had been listed on the official army website as leading the annual review of soldiers at Horse Guards Parade in London on June 8.

It raised hopes that Kate would be back undertaking public duties following her abdominal surgery on Jan. 16 at the annual event, which involves 1,400 soldiers and is a forerunner to the Trooping the Colour parade the following weekend.

On Tuesday, however, her office at Kensington Palace said they hadn't been consulted about her appearance and Kate's name has now been removed from the website, which is selling tickets to the event.

Kate was initially listed as conducting the review on June 8 in her capacity as honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards. The event takes place one week before the Trooping the Colour parade which pays tribute to King Charles.

Like the review, the event takes place at Horse Guards Parade and is accompanied by a carriage procession up and down the Mall that stretches down from Buckingham Palace into central London.

Kate’s husband Prince William, 41 — joined by other members of the royal family like Princess Anne — would usually ride horseback accompanying his father but it is currently unknown whether Charles — who is undergoing treatment for cancer — will be able to take an active part.

While planning for annual events like that is continuing at the palace, decisions about Charles’ involvement would likely take place nearer the time. He has canceled most in-person duties, and all of those involving large crowds as he undergoes his treatment.

What is known is that Kate is recuperating at home at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate. Her office has said she will not resume duties until after Easter, which falls on March 31.

To complicate matters, her children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 are also on school vacation at that time and Kate and William usually take time off to be with them, meaning she possibly won't undertake anything public until mid-April.

Despite this, Kate was spotted on Monday being driven by her mother, Carole Middleton after taking her children to school.

On Jan. 17, Kensington Palace announced that Kate’s surgery had been "successful."

"It is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery," the statement added. "Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."

"The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private," the statement continued. "Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share."

Last week, a palace source told PEOPLE that Kate "continues to be doing well" amid her recovery from the surgery.
