Kate Middleton went from the BAFTAs red carpet to the kitchen!

Just two days after dazzling alongside Prince William at the 2023 BAFTA Awards, the Princess of Wales stepped out on Tuesday to visit the Oxford House Nursing Home in Slough. Princess Kate, 41, met with staff and residents and hear how patient-focused care is at the center of the nursing home's work.

To mark Shrove Tuesday — the day before Ash Wednesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras or Pancake Day — the royal joined residents in a pancake-making activity. Kate laughed when the pancake in her flying pan became stuck, using a spatula to separate it and then get it a little flip.

"I'm sorry," the Princess of Wales told one of the people helping to make the pancakes, according to a video shared on Twitter by The Sun's Matt Wilkinson. "I haven't done you justice."

Despite a little struggle with the pancake, Prince William recently praised his wife as a "very good" cook, and the couple have previously spoken about cooking and baking with their kidsPrince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4. During Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, the couple shared photos of the children making cakes.

Kate told a resident named Sheila that their family would be making pancakes together for the holiday.

"I either get pancakes stuck on the floor or on the ceiling, but the children are very well and we will be making our own pancakes this evening with the children," she said, according to Isabella Perrin with the Bucks Free Press.

Kate also visited the nursing home's award-winning garden to meet with staff and volunteers.

Princess Kate learned how the nursing home, which opened its doors to residents in 1980, is using cutting-edge technology to enrich the lives of its residents, including an interactive sensory table purchased in 2020 as a creative response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The royal played a game of soccer on the interactive table with a resident named Jean, using a handheld device to "kick" the ball toward the opposing goal.

The nursing home also installed a new interactive wall used to support residents with dementia. Kate spoke with a resident while the wall showed a train ride.

Among the residents Princess Kate met was 109-year-old Nora Muchmore. Kate rubbed Nora's leg as they talked about their favorite foods, as seen in a video shared by Richard Palmer of the Daily Express. Nora said she liked kidneys and Brussel sprouts.

"Oh, kidneys!" Kate responded. "I love kidneys too!"

Hello! magazine reports that Kate was also told that Nora's birthday was on Jan. 7 — to which she replied, "That's two days before mine. Fellow Capricorn!"

Following the nursing home visit, Kate's shared Twitter account with Prince William posted a photo of the royal with Nora.

"109 years young…Great to meet you, Nora!" the caption said. "Here at Oxford House, an award-winning, family-run nursing home in Slough, residents like Nora are cared for in such a homely and comfortable environment, with innovative tech helping enrich their daily lives. Thanks for having us!"

In a follow-up tweet, they wrote, "And we couldn't miss the chance to celebrate #ShroveTuesday now could we?" accentuated with a pancake emoji.
