Although we always love to keep track of all of Kate Middleton‘s outfits over the years, from her monochromatic looks to her color-coordinated ones with Prince William, it’s not everyday she makes royal history with her looks. In fact, in her most recent royal appearance, at the State Dinner for the President of South Korea, the Princess of Wales reportedly unarchived a a royal relic.

According to Page Six, Middleton, who wore a beautiful white Jenny Packham dress with embellished silver shoulders to the event, accessorized the look with the Strathmore Rose Tiara. Per People, this tiara, which also marks the future Queen’s fourth-ever time wearing one, hasn’t been used in nine decades since the 1930s.

As for the item’s origin, The Court Jeweller reports the tiara belonged to the Queen Mother, aka the late Queen Elizabeth’s mother, and was named after her father, the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. Per the outlet, the piece was a wedding present when she married Prince Albert in 1923.

Since the Queen Mother’s use of the tiara, Middleton has been the only other royal to wear the crown to a public event. Talk about (future) Queen treatment!

And while the jewels are beautiful by themselves, it seems that Middleton’s attempt to bring back this rare item has secondary intentions. “Kate has always signaled that she’d like to emulate the Queen Mother’s royal role, and wearing her jewels is an important symbol of that continuity,” The Court Jeweller‘s founder Lauren Kiehna told People. “It’s fitting that Kate—likely with some assistance from King Charles—would choose to wear the tiara exactly a hundred years after the Queen Mother originally received it.”

“The tiara comes with two frames, allowing it to be worn either across the forehead or on top of the head,” she explained. “The Queen Mother used it both ways, and Kate chose the more traditional setting for the banquet.”

Also at the event was King Charles, Prince William, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol and Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea Choo Kyung-ho. With her vintage piece of bling, however, it’s safe to say Middleton stole the show.
