The internet remains undefeated when it comes to having fun with Kate Middleton’s suspicious whereabouts.

Kensington Palace released a statement Monday from the Princess of Wales admitting she “occasionally experiments with editing” after several photo agencies recalled her UK Mother’s Day photo.

The rare admission of guilt prompted fans on X to mock the announcement, trolling the royal establishment with their own outlandish posts claiming to be real efforts from Middleton and the Palace.

For example, one jokester shared a photo of unflattering Middleton and Prince William wax figures, writing, “NEW: Kensington Palace releases photo of Kate and William celebrating Mother’s Day.”

Another person took a photo of Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz,” standing with a group of munchkins. “Kensington Palace releases photo of Princess Kate, doing just fine, and visiting primary schools around London,” the caption read.

“Kensington Palace apologizes for that whole photoshop editing thingy and releases new photo,” someone else wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of the 1964 cast of “The Munsters.”

One fan shared an AI-generated photo of a brunette woman with two sons in Nicki Minaj’s Roblox-created fantasy world, Gag City, claiming that was the first photo of Middleton since her January abdominal surgery.

Someone else captioned a previously viral side-by-side 2020 comparison of how Khloe Kardashian looked during an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” versus what she put on Instagram with Middleton’s full statement.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” she wrote. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”

Middleton was spotted Monday hours after apologizing for the doctored photo tiding with William to Westminster Abbey, where the prince attended the annual Commonwealth Day service without her. The Princess looked out her window, away from the cameras — fueling even more speculation as to whether it was really her or not.

The mother of three is reportedly refusing to release the unedited photo in question despite PR experts calling on Kensington Palace to do so in an attempt to earn back the public’s trust.

“It’s plausible [Kate’s] at home playing with the computer and using an AI tool, but if they’re really going to regain any sort of trust they should release the unedited photo, it can’t be that bad if they just made a few tweaks,” PR expert Mark Borkowski told the Daily Mail.

“I find they have risen to the challenge, provided the statement as an explanation – the question is with all the conspiracy theories running around, is whether people believe it and I’m not sure that they will.”
