Kate Middleton cosies up in furry bobble hat and quilted jacket as she shares video in selfie mode from field

During the pandemic, we’ve become used to seeing Kate Middleton dressed up smartly in the small box of a Zoom video call.

However, the Duchess of Cambridge, 39, donned more casual attire on Sunday as she switched to selfie mode on her phone camera to launch a campaign from a field.

In a video shared to Instagram this morning, the royal mother-of-three said that parents’ wellbeing mattered too as she promoted the upcoming Children’s Mental Health Week.

As befitted the chilly weather, she cosied up in a furry navy bobble hat and £160 navy quilted jacket from British brand Barbour for the very personal, friendly clip – which appeared to be filmed in the countryside near her Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.

Speaking to the camera, the duchess, in an effort to raise awareness for the upcoming seven-day campaign, which begins tomorrow, said: "This year's Children's Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself – about finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings.

"So whether that's through photography, through art, through drama, through music or poetry, it's finding those things that makes you feel good about yourself."

Prince William’s wife – who wore minimal make-up and kept her hair natural for the outdoor occasion – added: "And while this is Children's Mental Health Week there has never been a more important time to talk about parental wellbeing and mental health too.

"Last year you told me just how important this was that many of us find it hard to prioritise. This is a hugely challenging time for us all so please look after yourself too.

"Find those ways in which to share your thoughts and your feelings or find someone to talk to because we really do need to be the very best versions of ourselves for the children in our care."

The video – which has been watched over 500,000 times – was well-received by royal fans, who left more than a thousand messages.

One person wrote: “Wonderful message, thank you for sharing! It’s great to see the duchess in a more casual setting.”

Another shared: “I love that you’re talking about this topic and sharing it on your social media.”

It comes as the duchess revealed that Prince William, 38, had been a huge support to her during lockdown.

In a video discussion about the struggles of homeschooling, shared to Instagram earlier this week, she spoke to three parents whose children attend Roe Green Junior School in Brent.

The group was asked by the school’s headteacher: “Who has been the greatest support to you during the pandemic?”

While grinning, Kate wrote down William’s name on a piece of paper and held it up to the camera.

The headteacher responded: "That's lovely."

Elsewhere during their chat, the royal admitted that she has been struggling teaching maths to her children Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.
