Kate Middleton Bartends in $2,500 Missoni Dress, Then Kicks Off Day 2 in Northern Ireland

Irish eyes are smiling — again!

After hopping behind the bar on Wednesday night to pull a perfect pint at the Empire Music Hall in Belfast, Kate Middleton and Prince William kicked off the second day of her Northern Ireland tour on Thursday with a more sobering engagement.

The royal couple met privately with officers and staff from the Police Service in Northern Ireland to hear about the challenges they face. Kate wore a navy dress by one of her favorite designers, Jenny Packham, paired with heirloom sapphire earrings from her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. To bundle up in the chill, Kate chose a belted, caped Mulberry coat.

The meeting is to be followed by two more engagements in Northern Ireland: the first, at the Braid Arts Centre to visit the charity Cinemagic, which uses film, television and digital technologies to engage with more than 500,000 young people; the second and final engagement of the day will be at Sure Start, a program that supports parents with children age four living in disadvantaged areas in Northern Ireland.

The couple received a warm welcome Thursday morning in Ballymena by enthusiastic flag-waving children from Ballykeal Primary School.

On Wednesday evening, Kate, 37, and William, 36, enjoyed a fun night out — each taking a turn as a bartender at a bash celebrating young people making a difference in the country in the business, arts and sport sectors. The royal mom of three pulled the perfect pint of Harp Lager — an Irish staple — as a growing crowd erupted into applause. William then tried his hand at a pour.

Kate wore a shimmering $2,500 dress by Missoni, featuring a midi-length pleated skirt and sheer sleeves – in a light green color that pays homage to their host country.

Earlier on Wednesday, the royals enjoyed a busy day that saw them perform soccer drills, canoe races and other outdoor activities.
