Hudson shares Ryder with her ex-husband Chris Robinson. She’s also the mother of son Bingham, 12, whom she shares with her ex Matt Bellamy, as well as daughter, Rani Rose, 5, with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

The birthday post follows an inside glimpse shared by Hudson into her family's Christmas celebration on Dec. 27., which showed multiple members of her family wearing matching pajamas.

"Christmas is love, and maybe a little friendly family competition…" Hudson wrote in the caption of the Instagram post, which included a video of her competing in a festive party game to unwrap gifts while wearing oven mitts.

Hudson's parents Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell also made an appearance in the post, with Kurt, 72, shown placing ornaments at the top of a Christmas tree using a stepladder, and Goldie, 78, holding an ornament with her back to the camera.

Away from her family moments, Hudson appeared on an episode of The View last Thursday and shared her thoughts about male actors in the rom-com world.

"It's hard to get male movie stars to make rom-coms," the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star said on the show. "As long as we can get more Marvel guys to like, you know, 'Hey, come to a rom-com!', I think that that's a big part of the formula too."

Panelist Sara Haines then asked about the "misstep" between male actors and the appeal of romantic comedies, to which Hudson replied, "I think it's about the writing, and how we're investing in telling the story of the writing and the directors."

"If you look at the classic rom-coms or movies that last forever — 'cause they do, they're the ones that last forever; people go back and back — they had the best writers," she added as she named the late Nora Ephron as an example.

"So it's more about how the studios are investing in the talents," Hudson said.
