Kate Gosselin Addresses Child Abuse Allegations on ‘Dr. Oz’

Kate Gosselin joined Dr. Oz on Thursday and addressed the recent tabloid accusations that she has abused her 12-year-old son, Collin. Collin is a special needs child who entered a facility in May to help him learn the skills necessary to live the best life possible. According to an unnamed source, after entering the facility, Collin reported he had been abused by Gosselin. Gosselin has denied the allegations.

Gosselin said she’s been investigated and that the reports were unfounded, but that the effects of the tabloid stories go beyond the unsubstantiated claims. Not only have they inflicted mental and emotional stress, they have even taken a physical toll on Gosselin, she said.

“The stuff just drags you down. It eats away at you. It drains your physical energy. And it’s probably the most difficult part,” Gosselin said.

What’s more, Gosselin feels that no matter how many talk shows she does and no matter how many times she proclaims her innocence, there will always be people who believe about her what they read in the tabloids.

Gosselin stated, “There’s still gonna be a percentage of people that still can’t tell the true me from the tabloid picture they created, and that angers me. And it angers me even more when it affects my children and they talk about them.”

Gosselin has received her fair share of criticism over the years, and she’s the first to admit that she’s not perfect. But she says that what’s most important are the kids.

“I mess up. Yet it’s out of love for my kids that I say, ‘Whooo. I messed up. I need to get better at that.’ I mean, my life is my kids, and there just wouldn’t be a Kate Gosselin if it wasn’t for my kids,” Gosselin said.
