Kate Beckinsale's Dating History: From Michael Sheen to Pete Davidson

Kate Beckinsale was in a relationship with Michael Sheen for eight years and later dated Pete Davidson

Kate Beckinsale isn't a huge fan of dating.

In July 2021, Beckinsale opened up to Extra about her preferred way to meet her partners.

"I've really barely ever been on a date. I literally meet someone, get to know them at work and then either marry them or get pregnant by them," she said, joking. "I just can't think of anything I'd hate more than sitting in front of somebody that I don't know, that chances are I won't like, and then have to sit and watch them eat food."

While Beckinsale is admittedly not crazy about the dating game, she has been linked to many leading men, including fellow actor Michael Sheen whom she dated for eight years and welcomed a child with. After her split from Sheen in 2003, Beckinsale began a relationship with director Len Wiseman. The pair got married in 2004 and separated 11 years later.

After her divorce, Beckinsale has dated a handful of men in the industry, including three comedians, Matt Rife, Jack Whitehall and Pete Davidson. In 2020, the Serendipity actress was seen with rapper Goody Grace.

Here is everything to know about Kate Beckinsale's dating history.

Michael Sheen

Beckinsale met actor Sheen in 1994 while they were in a touring production of The Seagull. Four years after meeting, the couple welcomed their only child together, Lily Sheen.

During their relationship, Beckinsale told Cinema.com that she was lucky to have Sheen. "It was only when I met him that my life really fell into place, and then we had Lily, so it's totally changed everything," she said. "He's protective of the people he loves, so I'm very glad I'm one of those."

Beckinsale and Sheen separated in 2003 after filming their film Underworld, but they have remained close.

In May 2016, the former couple recreated a photo taken when their daughter was a newborn. Beckinsale posted it on Facebook with the caption, "Always a baby to me #Lily." A year and a half later, the actress shared a photo of herself with Sheen and shared about their Christmas holiday spent together.

Beckinsale has also opened up about how she and Sheen make their co-parenting relationship work. In 2017, the actress told Chelsea Handler on her namesake Netflix show, "I think the thing is, if you both really put your kid’s well-being first, and share a sense of humor, you’re sort of halfway there."

Len Wiseman

Beckinsale met director Wiseman while she and Sheen were filming the 2003 film Underworld.

In a 2012 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Beckinsale reflected on the group dynamics after her breakup with Sheen and starting a new relationship with Wiseman. "Everybody involved has felt that the priority is Lily and wanting to get to a good place for her. And everyone is nice. So it's not bad," she said.

Beckinsale and Wiseman married in 2004 and worked on various projects together, including the Underworld films and the 2012 remake of Total Recall.

In 2016, PEOPLE confirmed that Wiseman had filed for divorce — the pair had been separated since 2015. "They are still friendly and spend time together in L.A. when Kate is there," said a source close to the couple. "There has been no drama ... They have both had complicated schedules and have grown apart."

Beckinsale and Wiseman's divorce was finalized in 2019.

Matt Rife

In June 2017, Beckinsale was spotted kissing then-21-year-old comedian Rife outside of Villa Lounge, a restaurant in West Hollywood, Calif. Rife is a stand-up comedian best known for his appearances on Nick Cannon's MTV show Wild 'N Out.

A source told PEOPLE of their kiss: "Kate is enjoying her life. She is dating and having fun ... She has been seeing Matt for the past few weeks. She really seems to like him. She refers to him as an old soul."

By March 2019, the pair had called it quits and Beckinsale had begun dating Davidson. When TMZ asked Rife if he had any advice for Davidson, he said, "Enjoy it while you can. I hope they're both happy, I hope that it can build to where it's an established, good relationship."

The comedian continued: "I wish them both the best ... We dated for a year and it was ... complicated."

Jack Whitehall

In November 2018, the Serendipity actress was seen with British comedian Whitehall in a Los Angeles karaoke bar. The new couple were spotted kissing at a candlelit booth.

Like Beckinsale's other beaus, Whitehall works in the entertainment industry — he was named the "King of Comedy" at the 2012 British Comedy Awards and had a main role in the British series Fresh Meat.

Beckinsale and Whitehall's relationship seemed to fizzle out soon after their karaoke kiss.

Pete Davidson

In January 2019, Beckinsale and Saturday Night Live alum Davidson appeared to have hit it off at Netflix's Golden Globes afterparty.

Just two months later, Davidson's friend Machine Gun Kelly told TMZ that he approved of the relationship. The rapper, who starred alongside Davidson in Big Time Adolescence, said it didn't take him long to realize Beckinsale and Davidson had chemistry.

"Yeah, I had to figure it out," he said. "It took me like 15 seconds. She's rad."

In early March of the same year, the couple were spotted kissing and snuggling in the stands at a hockey game in New York City. They had previously been photographed holding hands after Davidson's stand-up show in February. The Dirt actor even accompanied Beckinsale and her mother for dinner on the anniversary of her father's death.

Their relationship even made it on to an episode of SNL in March 2019. Davidson told Weekend Update host Colin Jost that his 20-year age gap with Beckinsale didn't bother them, though it had sparked public fascination.

After about four months of dating, Beckinsale and Davidson split.

Goody Grace

Beckinsale and Canadian rapper Grace, then 22, were first linked in April 2020. PEOPLE confirmed the pair had been dating since early that year.

Grace spent the first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown at Beckinsale's home in California and the two were seen taking walks and holding hands during this time. One source told PEOPLE that Beckinsale thought Grace was the "perfect quarantine boyfriend."

For Beckinsale's birthday in July, Grace posted a since-deleted video of Beckinsale and himself. "Happy birthday @katebeckinsale i love you 🖤∞," he wrote in the caption.

By October 2020, rumors spread of the couple's split after Beckinsale unfollowed Grace on Instagram. The Underworld star also deleted her comment saying "I love you" underneath Grace's birthday tribute video.

A source later confirmed their breakup. "It's not a big deal for Kate," they said. "It was great for Kate to have him around during the lockdown."
