Kate Beckinsale Shuts Down Fan Over 'Politicized' Awards Shows

Kate Beckinsale had the perfect response after someone criticized the star, and the rest of Hollywood, for bringing politics and other humanitarian issues onto the stage during awards shows like the Golden Globes.

The 46-year-old "Underworld" star as one of the many celebrities to appear Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton for the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards, and did not disappoint when she arrived in a stunning white gown that swept along the red carpet as she made her way into the event.

Beckinsale was obviously feeling her look, and took to Instagram to share some photos from the evening while giving props to her entire glam team.

Many fans praised Beckinsale for her outfit, including one person who also added an explanation for their disdain towards awards shows.

"You look nice, but I don’t view any of the award shows anymore since you actors politicized them, your opinions don’t matter as you don’t have a real life."

Not one to shy away from fan encounters, Beckinsale answered the fan politely, with an epic clap back.

"you have the right to choose. I fully support you exercising it," the "Underworld" star replied to the fan. She also included a winking emoji face for good measure.

She chose her words carefully, making it clear to the fan that the right to choose is a freedom that not everyone has.

Fans loved Beckinsale's retort to the fan's opinion, telling her "perfect response.....sheesh, you are the epitome of perfection!"

Another person joked, "yet ironically you have just politicised her instagram with your anti-political statement."

Celebs Spreading Awareness

Beckinsale is not the only celebrity who uses her platform to spread messages that are bigger than Hollywood. Actress Patricia Arquette made a splash on Sunday night when she used her victory speech for winning Best Supporting Actress for "The Act," to talk about the current political climate in the U.S. and around the world. She urged people to get unite and get involved.
