A New Marriage Proposal?

Kate Beckinsale once proposed marriage to movie star Ian McKellen and even though that really didn't happen, the "Widow" star is publicly leaving the door open in case he is interested.

Well, it not exactly what it seems...during a Buzzfeed game of "Two Truths and a Lie" with Helen Mirren, McKellen said that Beckinsale once proposed marriage to him.

Turns out the comment wasn't a lie...but it wasn't done seriously.

While attempting to pick out which of the 3 sentences were false, Mirren said, "I can absolutely understand a beautiful young woman proposing marriage to you, it's very believable."

McKellen gave Mirren these two other statements: "The first film I ever made was never released" and "I turned down the role of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies."

Mirren passed with flying colors after she correctly guessed that McKellen was never offered the starring role of Dumbledore for "Harry Potter."

McKellen played Gandalf in "Lord of the Rings."

Over the weekend, Beckinsale posted a screenshot of the article with McKellen's proposal question on social media.

"Offer still stands, @ianmckellen" she included heart eye emojis.

McKellen publicly came out as gay in the 1980's.
