Kat Von D Shocks Fans With Massive Tattoo Coverup: 'Blacking Out My Body'

Kat Von D has found a dramatic way to start fresh. The tattoo artist, 41, revealed she is covering many of her extensive tattoos with a massive blackout, inking much of her body in a process that she said has taken more than a dozen sessions over 40 hours – and she's not finished yet. Kat documented her progress in an Instagram video posted on Oct. 19 and shared an up-close look at the widespread ink across her torso, which she explained is only about 80 percent complete. The former "LA Ink" star addressed questions and concerns in a lengthy caption, explaining why she opted not to have the original designs lasered off and what inspired her to take on such a major ordeal in the first place. "I had many tattoos that represented a part of my life that no longer aligns with who I am today. Some people are fine with keeping these types of landmarks in time on them — I personally grew tired of waking up to them, and seeing those constant reminders every time I looked in a mirror," she wrote, adding that she knows the look is "not for everyone."
