Kasabian Vocalist Tom Meighan Pleads Guilty to Domestic Assault, Leaves Band

Tom Meighan, the longtime vocalist of Leicester rock band Kasabian, has pled guilty to assaulting his ex-fiancée Vikki Ager, the BBC reports. The plea comes just one day after Kasabian announced Meighan’s departure from the band that he co-founded in 1997. The band’s statement refers to “personal issues that have affected [Meighan’s] behavior for quite some time.”

According to the BBC, Meighan admitted to assaulting Vikki Ager on the night of April 9. Meighan reportedly threw Ager across a room, grabbed her leg while she was seated in a chair, and also hit her on the head. Ager was reportedly left with bruises on her knees, elbow, and ankle, as well as “a reddening around her neck.” The assault reportedly took place in front of a child, who called 999 to report “a domestic incident was taking place.”

Meighan was handed an 18-month community order, including 200 hours of unpaid work, according to the BBC. He will also reportedly be required to complete five days of rehabilitation and pay £175 in legal fees.
