Aditya Roy Kapur has officially confirmed that he will not be returning to the Aashiqui franchise. Paving the way for Kartik Aaryan to take on the lead role in Aashiqui 3. This revelation happened during a recent episode of Koffee With Karan season 8, where host Karan Johar quizzed Aditya about his thoughts on Kartik Aaryan steering the Aashiqui legacy.

As mentioned earlier, the revelation came during the latest episode of Koffee With Karan season 8. The host, Karan Johar, probed Aditya Roy Kapur about Kartik Aaryan taking the reins of the popular Aashiqui franchise. Aditya, with a touch of humor, expressed his approval for Kartk as the lead in the upcoming film.

“I wanted to ask what it feels like when somebody else takes your franchise forward,” inquired Karan. Aditya responded swiftly, “There was no chance I could be in this because, in the second part, my character went for a long swim, from which he is not returning.”

Arjun Kapoor, who joined Aditya on the Koffee couch, chimed in, “Then he became the night manager after that,” playfully referring to Aditya’s role in the hit series The Night Manager. Aditya continued the banter, saying, “So I feel like it’s great. I died, ya. Where will I come back now? My spirit will come back.”

Karan Johar added a humorous touch, suggesting that Aditya’s character might haunt Kartik Aaryan, dubbing him the villain. To this, Aditya replied, “Yeah, he’s hovering over Kartik Aaryan.”

About Aashiqui 3, the project was officially announced in September 2022, with Kartik in the lead role. He shared the announcement on Twitter. On the other hand, the female lead hasn’t been officially revealed yet.
