At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night, the artist was presented with the award for her album, Mañana Será Bonito.

"This is my first time at [the] Grammys, and this is my first time holding my own Grammy," she said while accepting the award. "I'm super happy, I'm super nervous, I'm super excited to be in front of so many legends that I admire and respect."

Karol G, 32, continued with thanks to her fan base. "This is such a beautiful thing. My album has given me the best memories in my own life, my whole life — my fans that came and enjoyed my album, that gave motivation and inspiration and heal with me — thank you so much."

She concluded, "I promise you to give you my best always, and I hope this is the first of so many."

Also nominated for the category were Saturno by Rauw Alejandro and Data by Tainy.

Of her album Mañana Será Bonito, Karol G reflected on the intense anxiety that came before releasing the record. "The two weeks before the album came out, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat,” she told Rolling Stone. “Being so exposed in my music was very psychologically heavy.… Imagine something like this happening, and you have to tell millions of people what happened to you."

And her taste for heart-wrenching music will always remain, Karol G added. "I swear to you, even in the moments when I’ve been super mega in love, I still make music about heartbreak,” she said. “You can put on the saddest songs in the world, and it’s as if you were killing yourself, but really, you’re healing.”

Tainy, 34, previously told PEOPLE, "It is crazy," of being nominated for the award. "Everything has changed so much. When I started, this wasn't in my possibilities of something that could happen because I come from Puerto Rico. What you probably would aim for would be the Latin Grammys, and that's even stretch."

"To see how we've grown and how we got here — I put out my first album last year and seeing that it's being recognized [at the Grammys], it's just crazy," he added. "I don't think I've processed it completely yet, but I'm so honored,"

Alejandro's Saturno inspired fans to take the space theme to new heights. The Puerto Rican singer, 31, explained his ex-fiancée'sRosalía — tour saw such iconic, themed outfits from concert-goers, that he channeled the energy for his own. “I saw all these motomamis with the concept of Rosi, the leather jackets, crazy makeup, these girls who were going to kill the night,” Alejandro told Harper's Bazar. “When I did Saturno, I was like, ‘I don’t know if people are going to dress like an alien or an astronaut or these weird galactic outfits, but if they connect with it, maybe.’”
