Karol G and her boyfriend Feid share a love and talent for the reggaeton music genre and their hometown of Medellín, Colombia.

The Latin American Grammy-winning Colombian singer — whose real name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro — sparked dating rumors with the songwriter when he opened for her U.S. Bichota Tour in 2021. They denied the rumors at the time, but as the years passed, they connected romantically.

In June 2023, Karol and Feid were spotted holding hands after his Miami show, and two months later he attended one of her two consecutive Rose Bowl performances during her Mañana Será Bonito U.S. stadium tour, according to Billboard.

During the show, while wearing sunglasses emblazoned with Feid's alter ego stage name “Ferxxo,” she wished Feid a happy birthday from the stage before singing. “Tus Gafitas,” her song about falling in love and getting to know someone new — which she had previously dedicated to him at a concert in Puerto Rico.

While the two have not spoken publicly about their relationship, a Rolling Stone profile of Karol in August 2023 confirmed the couple’s status, which included the singer's phone background featuring a candid snap of Feid.

So, who is Karol G’s boyfriend? Here’s everything to know about Feid and his relationship with the singer.

He’s from Medellín

Feid, whose real name is Salomón Villada Hoyos, was born in Medellín, Colombia — the same city as Karol. He discovered his passion for performing in seventh grade, according to Billboard, and began pursuing songwriting.

Karol and Feid knew each other from Medellín but didn’t keep in touch until they reconnected in 2021. “There was a long time when we didn’t speak to each other, and I barely knew anything about him,” Karol told Rolling Stone in 2023.

Feid is proud of his roots, too, incorporating Medellín culture, slang and even style into his music and performances.

“Everything that inspires my music — my muse if you will — is and always has been my culture and everything that revolves around that,” Feid told PEOPLE in 2021. “The most beautiful thing is seeing how artists from salsa and vallenato are so keen to the culture and it has inspired me to also be an ambassador for our people."

Feid’s signature style also represents Medellín, inspired by the neighborhood he grew up in and always incorporates a pop of lime green. His classic uniform of basketball shorts, an oversized T-shirt, sneakers, sunglasses and a hat is representative of the "nea" subculture in the city, Feid told Uproxx in 2023.

He’s a reggaeton artist

Like Karol, Feid is a reggaeton singer and songwriter who signed with Universal Music Publishing Group in 2016, per Billboard. It’s a genre with roots in Puerto Rico, blending reggae music with hip-hop influences. Karol and Feid both take immense pride in representing their Latin American culture.

“For [Puerto Rican fans], reggaeton is not pop music. It's music from the streets, music from people who run the streets for real,” he told NPR in 2023, discussing the authenticity required to perform the genre. “You cannot be a poser there; you have to be so real with people, and [either] they connect with you or not.”

Karol has also discussed this need for authenticity. “We are working for our spaces right now. But we are here. And we now have that respect. People know us [and] know our story," she told PEOPLE in 2021 while discussing what being Latina means to her and how she's reclaiming her space as a female reggaeton artist.

I'm super happy just to represent that part, to inspire people if I can, that's the most important thing," she added.

They went on tour together

While Karol and Feid knew each other from Medellín, they didn’t truly connect until he opened up for her Bichota tour in 2021, which had stops across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico.

“I love the fact that he’s from my country and my city, Medellin! I want to show the world where we come from,” Karol told Billboard in 2021, before the month-long tour began. “I’m very grateful for Feid and his team for joining this wonderful experience that will start soon.”

For his part, Feid told the outlet in 2021 that he was grateful for the opportunity to tour with Karol and her team, and it would open doors to expand his fanbase outside of Latin America.

He also reflected on this tour to Billboard again in 2023, saying it was a wake-up call. “I feel that 90% of people saw my show for the first time,” he said. “Coming from being a big deal in Colombia and being at the top of the charts to doing a show in Sacramento and having only five people yell ‘Wooo!’ was challenging for me.”

However, just one year later, Feid headlined his own 14-date U.S. tour, which sold out in minutes, according to Live Nation. In 2023, he was nominated for six Latin American Grammys.

He started as a songwriter for other artists

After releasing some of his own singles in his early 20s, Feid began his career as a songwriter for other artists. He wrote a song for himself called “Robarte Hoy,” but Colombian artist Shako asked if he could record himself, according to Billboard.

Then Feid's big break came when he wrote the song “Secretos”' for Colombian singer Reykon — which caught the attention of hitmaker J Balvin (who Karol has also collaborated with). Feid worked with Balvin on his 2016 chart-topper “Ginza,” then went on to work with Nicky Jam and Christina Aguilera.

“A lot of people know me as a songwriter, but it wasn't my motivation,” Feid told NPR in 2023. “It's not like I was a songwriter and now I'm an artist. I was an artist that had to be a songwriter.”

After the release of “Ginza,” Feid signed to the Universal Music label and released “Que Raro,” featuring Balvin.

“Today, I highly value that moment that Balvin gave me — the spotlight in which he put me, the type of song it was,” Feid told Billboard in 2023. “It was super cool for my career, for my life, for everything I have been building.”

They collaborated on a song together

While on tour together in 2021, Karol and Feid worked on a song called “FRIKI” which they released in December of that year. A week after the song dropped, Karol teased the music video release on Instagram, using a viral clip of the two dancing together while performing the song in Colombia.

Karol told Rolling Stone in 2023 that she and Feid have another unreleased collaboration. She was working on a song called “Verano Rosa,” which he planned to jump on.

“It’s a song about heartbreak, which is the best part of it all,” Karol told the magazine. The song is unfinished because Karol struggled to find the right collaborator, but she told Rolling Stone, "[Feid] says, ‘I know you’ve thought of thousands of people and no one fits but ... are you gonna let me get on that song?’ ”

He has an “alter ego” stage persona

Feid — which sounds like “faith” when spoken in Spanish — is his primary stage name, but he also has an alter ego onstage: Ferxxo (pronounced fercho). Feid launched his career in 2010 but did not adopt this alternate persona — which has decidedly more Medallo influences — until 2020, according to Billboard.

He told the outlet in 2023 that the reason for creating Ferxxo was to pay homage to his Medellín roots and be more authentically himself.

“At that moment, I opened the coolest door that I’ve ever opened, which was finding my identity and introducing El Ferxxo. It took me a long time to realize that this was what I had to do to really, really connect with people.”

Ferxxo does not replace Feid, though, the singer told Uproxx. Instead, the two play off of each other.

“Feid is doing more experimental music and Ferxxo is more in the reggaeton corner. It’s special for me having those two faces to do music and people understand that,” he told the publication, acknowledging that there are some “Feid songs” and some Ferxxo songs.

In December 2023, Karol kicked off her Latin American Mañana Será Bonito Tour in her hometown of Medellín with a two-night, sold-out, festival-style experience. At the event, Karol performed alongside a handful of special guests, including Feid.

Karol and Feid sang her song “Prohibidox,” and their collaboration “FRIKI." After the show, she posted on her Instagram Story thanking all of the artists who joined her onstage at her history-making performance, which included one to Feid.

Karol posted a video of the two smiling at each other and hugging with the caption, “Gracias Salo🤍,” referring to his real name, Salomón. She also shared another photo of the two singing together, and Feid reposted it on his account with the caption, “💖Carolina,” calling Karol by her real name.
