Karl-Anthony Towns' first ejection ever came on a pretty weak call
It normally takes a lot to pick up two technicals and an ejection in an NBA game. You either need to get pretty aggressive with your fouls, or be highly disrespectful to the refs.
That’s what made Minnesota Timberwolves forward Karl-Anthony Towns’ ejection Friday night pretty puzzling. The 22-year-old received his first-ever ejection for … asking the ref for a foul?
ESPN's mics picked up KAT saying "Damn… call that one!" before the tech that got him ejected (h/t @v_nat9) pic.twitter.com/JFn9A9yVz6

People have debated over the exact phrase Towns used, but most agree that he received his second technical foul for wondering why he didn’t get a foul call.
Pretty sure Kane Fitzgerald just ejected Karl Anthony Towns for yelling, "Damn where's the foul call?"

Karl-Anthony Towns gets called for a second technical foul before halftime after saying “And 1” to the official. #NBA refs power-tripping. No justification for sending off stars for such petty things. Horrible for the game.

The video doesn’t show Towns getting in the ref’s face. He merely says something to him while running back to play defense. That’s all it took for Towns to receive his first ejection.
People have not only questioned whether Towns should have been ejected, but also why the ref took action so quickly. He seemed eager to make the move, and it’s not like Towns did anything too egregious.
Because of that, Towns left Friday’s game against the Utah Jazz with roughly 20 seconds remaining in the second quarter. He finished the night with 13 points.
The ejection left the Timberwolves extremely short-handed. The club was already without All-Star Jimmy Butler, who missed the game with an injury.
