Spotify has released an update with a big new feature that allows users to be able to perform karaoke on the app.

The feature is only just being rolled out so may not be available in all regions yet.

But it is essentially an update on Spotify's lyrics service where most songs have the lyrics available alongside the track.

To access the karaoke feature, select the song you want to listen to and scroll down to the lyrics. With the update there should now be a 'sing' button which you should tap to bring up a different lyrics screen. The feature also quietens the original track

The lyrics will now come up line by line just like on a karaoke machine so you can sing your heart out without being judged by the audience of a karaoke bar.

Instead, the app will act as the judge and give you a percentage score at the end of the song to tell you how well you did.

Spotify users have also been reacting to the new feature with one joking: "SPOTIFY HAS A KARAOKE FEATURE??? oh im gonna be so annoying at parties now."

Another said: "Spotify’s karaoke HAS to be the best thing in a while."

One user also joked: "Spotify adding a karaoke feature is going to change my life. you don’t understand how insufferable i’m about to become. apologies in advanced to all my neighbours. no song can go unsung!!!!"

A number of users were also waiting for the karaoke update to come through on their phones as the feature only seems available in certain countries at this moment.
