Kanye West was always in love with Kim Kardashian but prior to the power couple saying "I do," he was linked to several other famous vixens and had one engagement already under his belt. The "Jesus Is King" star made headlines this week after he called Kim Kardashian "too sexy" and told her he wasn't happy with her Met Gala look because he felt it was too risqué. Fans were shocked when they watched the "KUWTK" episode where he discussed his disappointment with her look and urged his bombshell wife to tone down her sexiness.

Was Kim Too Sexy?
Kim discussed their fight over her Thierry Mugler look to the ladies of "The Talk" on Wednesday and stated she completely understood where he was coming from, although she stated he "built [her] up to be this sexy person." Kim told the hosts that Kanye was angry because the dress originally had fake nipples attached to it. "Well the dress initially since I was wet coming out of the water, there were nipples attached to it," Kim explained. "I think with editing I don't know, I'm not sure if we actually put that part into that fight [on the show]. So, he was really certain that he didn't want that on the dress and had mentioned it multiple times. And that was still on there so we did have that discussion."
She added that Kanye's "been going though a life change," and it's affected the entire family. "And just where he's gone in his life and maybe things that he did a year ago, he probably wouldn't be doing today," she continued. "And I love that beautiful journey, as well. And I think that is such a great example for our kids. But there's also that fine line of, you know, staying firm and doing what you feel comfortable with. And I take a little bit of him and I respect what he's saying." But before the rapper married Kim and found her "too sexy," he was linked to a number of gorgeous women, including a handful of scantily-clad models.
Kanye's Past Girlfriends:
Not all fans know that Kanye was engaged prior to Kim Kardashian. He popped the question to fashion designer Alexis Phifer in 2006. The "No Mistakes" rapper dated Phifer on-again, off-again for 6 years before calling off their engagement in 2008. She opened up about their breakup to PEOPLE stating, "It's always sad when things like this end, and we remain friends. I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavors. He's one of the most talented people I've ever met."
After the fallout from his failed engagement, Kanye was linked to fashion model Sessilee Lopez. The two reportedly dated in 2008 but it didn't last long.
Amber Rose:
Before Kim Kardashian, Wiz Khalifa and Alexander "AE" Edwards, Kanye West and Amber Rose were a thing. The duo dated for two years and made a splash at the 2009 MTV VMAs where Amber stood by his side as he famously interrupted Taylor Swift's speech. She was also his support system during his mother's death. They broke up in 2010 and while Amber has talked about their "love" in the past, Kanye publicly slut-shammed her while attempting to hurt her then-husband Khalifa.

After his two year relationship with Amber Rose, Kanye West was linked to Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks. He even cast her as the lead in his 2010 fashion short film, "Runaway" which showed Ebanks in various stages of undress.
Shortly after their brief affair, the rapper moved on from runway models to musicians. Kanye West began seeing Pussycat member Melody Thornton in 2010. Known for her vocals and sex appeal, Thornton and Kanye began popping up everywhere together, but just like Ebanks, they didn't last long.

His interest in dating fellow musicians didn't last long because he went right back to seeing models following his short relationship with Thornton. Kanye was next linked to another Victoria's Secret model. He reportedly dated Chanel Iman from 2010 - 2011, although she later denied the pairing.
His interest in models followed through to his next relationship. Following his one-year romance with Chanel Iman, he was seen getting extra cozy to French model Virginie Maury. The rapper was photographed making out with Maury on a balcony while drinking wine in France.

Finally after years of dipping his feet in the dating pool, Kanye and Kim started dating. He romantically popped the question to the "KUWTK" star at AT&T Park in San Francisco six years ago, just months after welcoming their first child, daughter North West. The stars exchanged vows in front of friends and family at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy on May 24, 2014. Kim and Kanye have since welcomed three other children -- Saint, 3, Chicago, who was born via surrogate on January 15, 2018, and son Psalm born via surrogate on May 10, 2019.
