Kanye West Wearing Mask Leads To Anti-Terror Accusation In Italy

Kanye West doesn’t always want to be seen in public these days, which caused him some legal trouble in Italy. The 46-year-old artist was recently accused of breaking anti-terror laws for wearing a mask in the country.

The Daily Mail reported Yeezy’s legal woes on Sunday (Sept. 24). “It is forbidden to use any article which will hamper an individual’s identification, in a public place or in a place that is open to the public, with a justifiable motive,” it says in Italy’s anti-terror and public order legislation. This policy, Article 533 of Italian law, was conceived in 1977 to eliminate the threat of public terrorism.

After a string of Islamic-fueled attacks, they ramped up the law to include crash helmets and full face coverings. The only exception to this rule is for religious purposes, but a person has to procure written permission from local authorities before they are permitted to freely wear face coverings. West’s “crime is punishable by a fine of €1,000 up to a maximum of €2,000,” according to The Daily Mail.

Drama has followed Kanye West and his wife throughout their time in Italy. Bianca Censori faced backlash in August for walking around “virtually naked” and forcing Italian locals to notify authorities. Soon after this, pictures and footage of them seemingly engaging in fellatio while on a boat in Venice surfaced online.

Though the act could not be confirmed, the photos show Ye with his pants below his waist and his buttocks exposed while Censori had her head in his lap in such a way that made people believe they were engaged oral sex. The couple was ultimately handed a lifetime ban from the boat rental company and authorities investigated the matter.

“There are standards of public decorum that have to be followed by tourists and locals alike and any breaches are severely punished,” a Venice police source said. “The images of West with his trousers down while in a taxi as he and his partner crossed the lagoon were seen all over the globe […] You could clearly see his trousers were half down and we have received complaints from people who witnessed it. Now we have identified the driver of the boat and we will be asking him what he saw as well.” Check out their controversial boat ride below.
