Kanye West opened up about his relationship with Pusha T during an interview with Justin Laboy.

West addressed where the friendship stands after Push exited G.O.O.D Music in 2022. Around this time, Ye had publicly went on a string of anti-semitic rants. The It’s Almost Dry rapper called his comments “disappointing.” Now, the 46-year-old is giving fans an update.

“I just spoke with Pusha the other day. It was good to talk to him. It was the first time talking to him in a couple months. We made good music together,” he said.

Ye began rambling after this point, but seemed to indicate that he felt betrayed by Push. He admitted that he expected Pusha T to come to his defense during his divorce from Kim Kardashian. But, he has since moved past those feelings toward the Virginia emcee.

“I thought that somehow because I made beats and made music for somebody when I couldn’t see my children, these people would use their platform. ‘Cause I used my platform on their behalf,” he said. “Now I realize no one owes me anything. If you depend on somebody who is not giving you what you need, you’re the one that’s in the wrong.”

In a 2022 Los Angeles Times interview, the Daytona rapper opened up about his friend and longtime collaborator. Push called out his bigoted rhetoric and was “very disappointed” by his behavior. He also shed light on his working relationship with the innovative talent before giving his stance on his new views.

“Creatively, Ye has meant freedom to me,” Push expressed. “A lot of times, people would try to get me to change certain things about my process, change certain things about me lyrically, change certain things about the content. He never has been like that. He always saw me for who I was and knew how to take it to the next level.”

“[Ye’s actions] definitely affected me. It’s been disappointing. As a Black man in America, there is no room for bigotry or hate speech. So yeah. It’s been very disappointing, let’s talk straight.”
