Previously Announced

Kanye West had previously announced that his 9th studio album Jesus Is King was dropping on September 27. His wife, Kim Kardashian West, had also tweeted out a handwritten track list for the album, which was supposed to have heavy gospel influences. However, West announced on Wednesday that the release date had been delayed.

According to Rolling Stone, there was no news on what was next for the project or when it would actually be released.

Will It Even Be Released?

This is not the first time this year that a Kanye West project was pulled right before its release. Yandhi was supposed to be released last September, but West tweeted "After performing again, I realize the new album I’ve been working on isn’t ready yet. I’ll announce the release date once it’s done. Thank you for understanding."

After part of the album leaked, it was pulled from the schedule and never released.

Sunday Service

Jesus Is King is supposed to be a completely different project than Yandhi and is similar to the kind of performances that West is doing at his infamous Sunday Services. These Christianity-themed events have taken place in Los Angeles and at West's new ranch out in Wyoming as recently as last weekend.
