Kanye West publicly apologizes to Drake for feud

Kanye West wants to clear the air with Drake.

Tensions have been running high between the rappers for months, and in a Twitter spree early Wednesday morning, West apologized to the “In My Feelings” crooner, explaining “where the confusion started.”

It seems their disagreement comes down to three things: Kim Kardashian’s husband encroaching on Drake’s “Scorpion” release date, West releasing “Lift Yourself” on his own album, and the material used in Pusha T’s dis tracks aimed at Drake (cough: secret love child).

Apparently, it started in April when Drake announced that his highly anticipated album “Scorpion” would be out in June.

Six days later, West announced the release date of four albums he was producing — for Pusha T, Nas, Kid Cudi, and Teyana Taylor — plus the release of his own album, Ye. All dropped between May 25 and June 22. West now apologizes for “stepping on” Drake’s toes, alluding to the fact he might not have been in the best frame of mind at the time.

West also issued a mea culpa for including “Lift Yourself” on Ye. (In a recent interview, Yeezy said Drake wanted to be on the beat and sent him purple demon emojis when it didn’t happen.)

But perhaps the biggest source of tension stems from Pusha T going after Drake — and Yeezy doing nothing to stop it. It started on Pusha T’s song “Infrared,” produced by West, in which he inferred that Drake uses a ghostwriter, Quentin Miller. (The lyric: “It was written like Nas but it came from Quentin.”) Drake responded with a dis track of his own, “Duppy Freestyle,” which mentioned Pusha T’s fiancée. Pusha T then fired back with “The Story of Adidon,” calling out Drake’s secret love child. Did you catch all that?

West apologized for all of it, but clarified he had nothing to do with Pusha T going after Drake’s son, saying he learned his lesson that kids are off limits after his 2016 feud with Wiz Khalifa.

West ended his tweets by praising Drake’s success and said he’s going to catch the rapper on tour.

West’s apology comes after a conspiracy theory that the musicians’ feud really started because Drake hooked up with Kardashian — and that she’s “Kiki” from “In My Feelings.” However, the reality star shut down the rumor this week, saying it “never happened.”

West likely decided to try and squash the beef because Drake disses him in a forthcoming song with French Montana. His tweets came hours after a snippet hit the internet featuring Drake rapping: “I told her don’t wear no 350s around me,” referencing West’s Yeezy 350 sneakers.

Was this enough to end their feud for good? Drake has yet to publicly respond, but we’ll probably hear from him soon.
