Kanye West Launches Yeezy Pods, First Post-Adidas Footwear Brand

Kanye West has released Yeezy Pods — his first footwear endeavor since leaving Adidas. On Thursday (Dec. 28), Ye took to Instagram to officially unveil his newest Yeezy product. “Yeezy.com,” the caption simply read.

Attached was a clip showing off the unique Black sock-shoe unfolding and rotating to show off the design. The bottom of the footwear features a sneaker sole slightly reminiscent of the YZY 500 silhouette.

The official website prices the footwear at $200 and includes three size options. These sizes include 1, 2, and 3. Yeezy’s size chart explains the sizing as follows: “UNDER US 6 / EU 39; 2: US 7 – US 9.5 / EU 40 – 43; and 3: US 10 – US 13 / EU 44 – 47.” Yeezy Pods are available for pre-order, and the company claims that the footwear will be delivered “within four weeks.”

In October 2022, Adidas dropped the Chicago native following his anti-semitic comments. The German company issued a statement after the public falling out. Adidas asserted they wouldn’t tolerate hateful rhetoric and cut ties with the producer.

“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the brand typed in a press release. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.”

“After a thorough review,” the statement continued. “The company has made the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end the production of Yeezy-branded products, and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”

On Wednesday (Dec. 27), West issued an apology to the Jewish community for his hateful language. He posted the message to his IG account in Hebrew. “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for my unplanned outburst caused by my words or actions, it was not my intention to hurt or disrespect, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused,” the English translation reads.
