Kanye West‘s 2004 Grammy-nominated hit “Through The Wire” was a testament to his infamous 2002 car accident that left him with a wired jaw. However, West has now revealed that the accident also caused him “signs of autism,” in a text message to Elon Musk.

On Wednesday morning (Oct. 18), the Yeezy founder asked fashion designer and model Ian Connor to publicize a screenshotted text message sent to Elon Musk. Connor obliged, posting a choppy message where West criticized his friendship with the Tesla and X CEO, as well as gave reason for his former “bipolar” behavior.

“When are we going to speak,” Kanye texted Musk. “You owe me nothing. You never have to speak to me again. But if we do speak. The nature of the relationship has to change. I’m not bi polar. I have signs of autism from my car accident. You can’t watch Kim keep my kids from me. And not say anything publicly and then call yourself my friend so I can bring my audience to your struggling platform.”

West then demanded Connor to, “Get this out to the public,” as the 30-year-old simply responded, “Say Less. 2:22 a.m.” However, the text thread shows no reply from Musk.

Ye first mentioned that he may be on the spectrum in December 2022 in an interview with celebrity gossip site X17.

“I believe that in no way I am not bipolar, I am not in some kind of episode,” he said. “But I may be slightly autistic — like Rain Man, and that’s part of my superpower! […] That’s the reason why I can produce tracks and design and do so many things but what I can’t do — there’s two things that I can’t do: I can’t accept hate and I can’t hate.”

As far as the GOOD Music founder’s friendship with Musk, the two became friends after both expressing admiration for one another in interviews and social media. They’ve even been spotted out at events together.

However, their friendship took a turn last year upon Musk becoming the newfound owner of Twitter, which he later renamed X. The billionaire banned Ye from using the platform after he posted an altered image of the Star of David with a swastika inside.

Taken back, West lashed out at Musk on Instagram, where he called him a “genetic hybrid” and “half Chinese.”

He said at the time, “Am I the only one who thinks Elon could be half Chinese? Have you ever seen his pics as a child? Take a Chinese genius and mate them with a South African super model, and we have an Elon. I say an Elon because they probably made 10 to 30 Elon’s and he’s the first genetic hybrid that stuck.”

The 52-year-old did eventually reinstate West’s X account in July (after an eight-month suspension), but the father-of-four has yet to post anything.
