Patrick Mahomes’ 2013 tweet about Disney World finally came true

Talk about calling your shot.

Nearly seven years ago to the day, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared a tweet wondering how great it would feel to be the winning quarterback of the Super Bowl and shout the iconic phrase, “I’m going to Disney World!”

At the time, Mahomes was a long way off from landing a spot on an NFL roster. In fact, he was still in high school.

Yet on Sunday, Mahomes got to experience that firsthand.

Mahomes led the Chiefs back from a 10-point hole in the fourth quarter to beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, and was named Super Bowl MVP in the process. The 24-year-old — who threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns in the win — is now the youngest quarterback to win that award and the youngest player in league history to claim both that and a regular-season MVP award.

So, while standing on the field at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami seven years after he fired off the initial tweet, Mahomes finally uttered the famous phrase.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to say my whole life,” Mahomes told Fox’s Terry Bradshaw after the win. “I’m going to Disney World.”

Asked and answered.
