TOPEKA (KSNT) – The classic rock band born in Topeka is adding a second tour date for its return to the Capital City later this year.

The Topeka Performing Arts Center (TPAC) announced in a press release that KANSAS is now set to perform twice in October 2024 on its 50th Anniversary Tour. The decision was made due to fast ticket sales for the first show.

TPAC spokeswoman Anna Green says the shows are set for Oct. 3-4. Tickets will go on sale for the Oct. 3 date starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12 for purchase on TPAC’s website.

“The way audiences have received the 50th Anniversary Tour has been spectacular,” said KANSAS drummer and original member Phil Ehart. “It only made sense to extend the tour into 2024. We look forward to being able for fans in more locations to see the tour – and for people who loved it the first time to see it again!”

KANSAS previously announced on March 19 it would be visiting its old stomping grounds in Topeka. The band initially left the Sunflower State out of its international tour, leaving KANSAS fans in Kansas with the option to travel out of state to catch up with the band.

“Heck, the first 50 dates didn’t even include the state of Kansas,” Ehart said. “You know we must perform there!”

The band got its start in the City of Topeka with their debut album released in 1974, according to KANSAS’ website. The band has released iconic songs such as “Dust in the Wind” and “Carry on My Wayward Son” which are listed on Billboard’s Hot 100. They have managed to sell 30 million albums worldwide.
