Kangana Ranaut, the Bollywood star turned politician, has decided to postpone the release of her much-anticipated film Emergency. This decision comes as she ramps up her campaign efforts for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, where she runs from the Mandi constituency.

Why has Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming movie Emergency release date postponed?

Manikarnika Films, the production house behind the upcoming movie announced the postponement on social media. Their statement read, “Our hearts are filled with love for our queen Kangana Ranaut. As she prioritises her duty to the nation and her commitment to serve the country, the release date of our much awaited film ‘Emergency’ has been postponed. We promise to update you soon with a new release date. Thank you for your continued support.”

Kangana Ranaut, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Lok Sabha seat, has decided to prioritize her political commitments over the film’s release. Her campaign duties have become her main focus. Hence, leading to the postponement of the film’s release.

Kangana Ranaut initially slated Emergency to hit theaters on June 14, 2024. Interestingly, she announced this release date shortly after attending the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya in January. The film had already experienced a shift in its release schedule once before. Earlier, they had slated it for November 24, 2023.

Emergency, a film both written and directed by Kangana Ranaut, covers one of the most controversial periods in India’s history. It portrays the time from 1975 to 1977 when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across the country.

In describing the film, Kangana stated, “Emergency is the most controversial, sensational, and scathing event in the history of Indian democracy. It is also a deeply engaging and dramatic story of the rise and fall of one of the most popular world leaders and India’s first woman Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi.” Although the film deals with political themes, Kangana has clarified that it is not a biopic of Indira Gandhi.

Now fans await the announcement of the new release date.
