Kai Cenat Wins Streamer Of The Year At 2023 Streamy Awards

Content creators, trendy musicians, podcast hosts and more stepped from behind the camera and onto the red carpet for the 2023 Streamy Awards. The 13th annual event honored talent from various digital platforms including YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok whose subject matter range from Barbiecore to mental health.

Held on Sunday (Aug. 27) at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, this year’s ceremony recognized the people responsible for executing, amplifying, and expanding online trends. Hosted by sixteen-time Streamy nominee and 7-time winner MatPat, the award show shared lively moments from RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Shea Couleé and the viral stars in the audience.

Kai Cenat accepted the Streamer of The Year award on stage and expressed, “If you were to tell me that I’ll be winning this back-to-back years in a row, a few years ago, I would laugh and laugh and wouldn’t believe you, man. But, from the sub-a-thon, to AMP putting up a house together, to Japan…this year has been crazy!”

Ahead of this year’s ceremony, VIBE caught up with various nominees and presenters who shared a spirit of gratitude, win or lose, and relayed excitement to be recognized for their influence and contributions.

Big Boss Vette

“I feel amazing,” expressed rapper Big Boss Vette to VIBE before the live event. The St. Louis native was nominated for the Steamys inaugural Sound Of The Year award presented in collaboration with Rolling Stone for her viral anthem “Pretty Girls Walk.”

“I feel overly grateful. I feel that my hard work is finally paying off. I’m finally getting the recognition that I’ve been working so hard for. Yeah, it’s just amazing. Thank you, God. Thank you Rolling Stone…Streamy [awards]. Thank you. Thank you to my team. Thank you to my cousins. Thank you to everybody who made sounds with my song. Thank you.”

Pinkydoll

“I was so happy, I will say that. It was like a benediction… I’m so happy for my family, for me, because now we can go far, and I can do all my dreams,” reflected viral content creator Pinkydoll whose 2023 breakout year includes support from Timbaland.

“When Pinkydoll do something, she do it big. So if I step in music, they better know I’m coming for real.”

Gracie’s Corner

“We’re extremely excited and happy to be here, especially considering the amazing other people that are in this category, so we’re just extremely happy,” added Javoris Hollingsworth and Arlene Gordon-Hollingsworth, the parents behind nominee Gracie’s Corner. The educational platform is nominated in the Kids and Family. category.

“So definitely excited and wonderful, wonderful opportunity just to be even nominated. It’s a big deal… We hope to just continue to grow. The goal is to become a household name. And with that, we understand that means merchandise, maybe like a longer form, but everything you can think of, we’re hoping to at some point dive into that.”

Keith Lee and Ronni Lee

“[I’m] Blessed and thankful to be here. I just love being next to my wife, looking nice, looking clean. I’m amazed,” expressed viral food critic Keith Lee who attended the red carpet with his wife Ronni Lee.

“Anywhere I’m supposed to be, I will be. God is always watching over us. I’m going to be exactly where I’m supposed to be at all times,” continued the Las Vegas residence. The happy couple’s favorite restaurant when in L.A.? Jazzy’s Kitchen.

“I feel honored and blessed to even be in this area. It’s amazing,” exclaimed the singer/songwriter D4vd. His viral record “Here With Me” was nominated for the Rolling Stone Sound Of the Year award.

He also shared his anticipation to be heading on the road. “I’m super excited for Vegas. I’m so honored to even be on tour with SZA. She’s an amazing artist. It’s a full circle moment for me because she was the first concert I ever saw.”
