Kacey Musgraves Faces the Stress of the Spotlight in 'Too Good to Be True' Music Video - Watch!

The country star released her sixth studio album 'Deeper Well' on Friday

Kacey Musgraves is blinded by the lights in her latest music video.

On Friday, alongside the release of her sixth studio album Deeper Well, the "High Horse" musician, 35, shared the music video for her stripped-down ballad "Too Good to Be True."

The visual begins with Musgraves sitting on the floor of a recording studio in a black turtleneck recording her song before the camera pans to a black-and-white TV screen where she's playing a version of herself, sitting in bed speaking to her lover.

But soon it's clear that the moment is merely a scene being filmed for a movie or TV show and Musgraves leaves the set in sunglasses and a trench coat where she's hounded by reporters and paparazzi.

She ends up leaving in a car with her lover and eventually they end up in a forest-like backdrop where she hugs him.

As the credits on the TV screen roll, the visual pans back to the first version of Musgraves in the recording studio.

The "Rainbow" artist released her new album Deeper Well on Friday.

Musgraves initially teased the LP last month with nine cryptic (and caption-less) Instagram posts of her lying nude in a green field.

Just one day later, during 2024 Grammys, she shared a video showing her in different areas of nature.

Musgraves opened up about Deeper Well in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, where she revealed how it provokes vulnerability and connection between her and her listeners.

“I really do believe in the biggest, most powerful form of connection is vulnerability,” she said. “So it's like on one hand, I think there's hardly ever any mystery left in life, especially with artists. But at the same time, we're here to connect.”

Musgraves explained that artists and audiences “all experience the same emotions.” She said that she wants to “f----ing put it out there” and not “hold back.”

However, she told Lowe, that being vulnerable “can be scary” because she is “kind of a private person.”

“I really enjoy and revere my privacy and having something just for me and my personal life. I'm really kind of a homebody,” Musgraves said.

She continued: “And as you get ready to release a project, this tsunami of madness is coming to work me. And you're going to be very public-facing again,” she revealed. “And that can be — that's kind of hard for me sometimes.”
