K-Pop Star Goo Hara's Death Raises Concerns

28-year-old K-Pop star, Goo Hara, was found dead on November 24th. Police have not confirmed the cause of death, but the singer wrote 'Goodnight' on her Instagram only days before she was discovered dead in her home.

Many fans suspect that her relationship with an ex-boyfriend may have had an impact. The relationship had a messy ending with Goo Hara claiming he threatened to release a sex tape of her and her ex claiming that she assaulted him. She then became prominent in the tabloids.

On Friday, she posted a picture on Instagram of her laying in bed with the covers pulled up. She had captioned the picture “잘자” which means "good night."

She has also attempted suicide in the past.

She had been hospitalized after her attempt.

"I am sorry for causing concerns and a commotion," Goo Hara previously told Sankei Sports. "In terms of health, I am recovering... I had been in agony over a number of overlapping issues."

No one knows for sure if any of this is tied into her death.

Fans took to twitter to mourn to pay their respects.

"Everything about you will be missed. goodnight angel i hope you’re in a much better place now may you rest in peace angel,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Rest in peace Goo Hara. My condolences to her family and all those whose lives she’s touched. She deserved all the good things this world had to offer and I’m sorry it wasn’t given to her. I hope shes found peace now,” another tweeted.

"Everything about you will be missed. goodnight angel i hope you’re in a much better place now may you rest in peace angel.❤️#goohara," another fan mourned.

K-Pop has unfortunately lost several artists to suicide in the past couple years.

Kim Jong-hyun committed suicide at 27 in 2017 and Sulli, 25, was found dead in her home after committing suicide. Others struggled with mental health and suicidal thoughts. Mina, a member of the K-pop band Twice, backed out of the band to work on her mental health.

This raises questions about the pressure K-pop artists and members of the entertainment industry face.
