‘K.G.F.’ Star Yash Teams With Award-Winning Director Geetu Mohandas On ‘Toxic – A Fairy Tale For Grown-ups’

Indian star Yash, known internationally for his role in the K.G.F. franchise, is working with award-winning director Geetu Mohandas on his next project, Toxic – A Fairy Tale For Grown-ups.

The pan-Indian film is being produced by Venkat K Narayana through two Bangalore-based production houses – KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. It will be shot in multiple Indian languages.

Yash and Mohandas have been working together over the past year on the story of the film, which Mohandas will direct with Yash in the lead role. The producers have set a release date of April 10, 2025.

Yash starred in both K.G.F: Chapter 1, the first Kannada-language film to be a hit across India when it was released in 2018, and KGF: Chapter 2, which was the highest-grossing film in India in 2022. Toxic – A Fairy Tale For Grown-ups is his project since KGF: Chapter 2.

Mohandas is a director and actress know for her work across the Malayalam and Hindi film industries. Her debut feature as director, 2013 socio-political drama Liar’s Dice, played at Sundance and Rotterdam film festivals and won best actress and best cinematography at India’s National Film Awards.

Her second feature Moothon (The Elder One), which she co-wrote with Anurag Kashyap, won best film and two acting awards at New York Indian Film Festival.

The story of Toxic – A Fairy Tale For Grown-ups is being kept under wraps but Mohandas shared that it has a gangster theme: “I go where the story demands and Liar’s Dice and Moothon found their audience internationally. The subject demanded a dynamic personality like Yash to shoulder this badass gangster narrative spoken in a language which is thought-provoking but familiar.”

The film’s producer, Narayana, said: “I have witnessed the shaping up of this most ambitious project over the course of one year. When you decide to push the bar in filmmaking and storytelling and making a movie at a massive scale, it will take time. I can proudly say that what Yash and Geetu have put together will be a treat for movie lovers across the world.”

The producers have dropped a title reveal teaser for the film.
