Justin Trudeau Challenges Matthew Perry to Rematch Over Fifth Grade Beating

A 10-year-old Matthew Perry had no problem throwing punches, but can a 47-year-old Perry take them?

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau challenged his former elementary school bully Matthew Perry to a “rematch” on Saturday.

“I’ve been giving it some thought, and you know what, who hasn’t wanted to punch Chandler? How about a rematch @MatthewPerry?” Trudeau wrote on Twitter. Perry has not yet responded to the challenge.

Trudeau’s challenge comes a few weeks after Perry said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that not only did he attend grade school with Trudeau, but he and some friends actually beat him up once.

“I have a story about him that I’m not proud of,” Perry said. “My friend Chris Murray, who was also in the fifth grade in Canada, reminded me that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau … We both beat him up. I think he was excelling in a sport that we weren’t, so it was pure jealousy.”

At the time, Trudeau’s father was the prime minister of Canada, but Perry said he was pretty confident that wasn’t the reason for the beating.

“I think he was the only kid in school that we could beat up,” he said. “You know, I’m not bragging about this, this is terrible. I was a stupid kid, I didn’t want to beat him up. In fact, I think at one point I tried to turn it into love play.”
