In recent weeks, Timberlake has been in the spotlight for his alleged past behavior during his relationship with the “Toxic” singer that lasted from 1999 to 2002, which she writes of in her memoir. Among other anecdotes, the pop star writes that she was once pregnant with the “Mirror” musician's child and alleges that he cheated on her. (Spears also writes in the book that she kissed choreographer Wade Robson while she was still dating Timberlake.)

The “Can’t Stop This Feeling” performer turned off his comments on Instagram upon the memoir’s release.

Before The Woman in Me was published, a source told PEOPLE that Timberlake is currently focused on his family and career, including the recent *NSYNC reunion and his upcoming Trolls movie.

The insider said, "He’s happy at home with Jess and their kids and he’s focusing on new music. He’s in such a great place.”

Although Timberlake has yet to comment on the revelations from Spears’ memoir, he has expressed support for the “Hold Me Closer” musician, 41, in the past.

In February 2021, the singer/actor publicly apologized for his past behavior towards both Spears and Janet Jackson in a lengthy post on Instagram. He wrote at the time, “I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism. I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.”

Days before The Woman in Me hit shelves, Spears took to social media to express her intentions behind the book. In a post to both Instagram and X, (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “My book's purpose was not to offend anyone by any means. That was me then ... that is in the past!!!"

The singer-songwriter continued by saying that she’s “moved on” from what happened now two decades ago and feels as if “it’s a beautiful clean slate from here."
