Justin Timberlake is reportedly done with all his drama with Britney Spears and wants to set the record straight ahead of the release of his upcoming album. The singer, 43, has made headlines many times over the past couple of years due to resurfaced information about his decades-old romance with Spears, 42. And as the backlash continues to mount, Timberlake may be considering an interview with the queen of tell-alls, Oprah Winfrey.

“Justin is really not happy how things have gone down,” a source told The Sun, via Daily Mail. “He wanted [his new] music to speak for itself, but that’s clearly not happening.” The Mirrors singer stirred up some trouble last week when he appeared to diss Spears and her supporters during a “One Night Only” performance in New York City.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f–king nobody,” he said before singing his 2002 song “Cry Me a River,” which is believed to be inspired by Spears cheating on him during their three-year relationship.

In the bombshell 2021 documentary, Framing Britney Spears, the frenzy caused by the song’s cheating allegations was deemed to be one of the early examples of how Spears was mistreated in the media before her eventual mental breakdown. Then, in Spears’ 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, the pop icon claimed that the song painted her as a “harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy.”

She also revealed she had an abortion early in her relationship with Timberlake and alleged that he cheated on her towards the end of their relationship. So, needless to say, her fans have largely turned on Timberlake and his hit song, reportedly leaving the singer with no other option but to hope to clear his name.

“His comments onstage have only added fuel to the fire,” the insider added. “The idea of a sit-down chat with someone like Oprah Winfrey was floated months ago and is now back on the cards.”

Back in October, it was reported that Spears’ memoir was wreaking havoc in Timberlake’s personal life. This ignited months of backlash towards Timberlake and rumors about trouble in his marriage with Jessica Biel — though the couple seemingly put an end to those reports last week.

And though it seemed briefly that Spears was trying to bury the hatchet, by sharing her praise for Timberlake’s new single “Selfish,” that peace-making effort was short-lived after Timberlake’s onstage comments.

“Someone told me someone was talking s–t about me on the streets !!!” she wrote on Instagram, per Page Six. “Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time ??? I’m not sorry !!!”

Looks like Oprah might be the only fix for this years-old problem!
