Justin Timberlake is keeping his fans afloat before the highly anticipated release of his new album.

On Tuesday, the pop star, 43, announced that a second song off his forthcoming record Everything I Thought It Was is due out this Friday. He teased the new tune, titled “Drown,” and revealed its release date by posting a video on Instagram featuring a snippet of the track.

In the clip, the hitmaker previewed what seems to be an emotional ballad by playing several verses acoustically while seated at a piano.

“It's about to break us / You showed me exactly who you are / And I should've believed it,” Timberlake sings with his voice in its signature high register.

The musician continued crooning, “You left me alone out in the dark / With all of your demons / Got caught up in the tide / Of all the tears you cried / Yeah, you know I was blinded by my heart / Sinking from the start / Should've never followеd you this far / Now I'm in the deep end / And you let mе drown / You didn't even try to save me.”

The “Mirrors” singer announced the release date in the caption and offered his fans an update on his health, as he shared earlier this month on Instagram that he had come down with the flu.

“Made it out to London, still recovering from this flu. But trying to power through,” the former the *NSYNC member wrote. “So excited for new music and everything coming this week.”

“Drown” is the second single to drop off Timberlake’s upcoming sixth studio album, which is due out March 15 (via RCA). It follows the album’s lead single “Selfish.”

In January, the Grammy winner revealed his long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s Man of the Woods was on the way and gave fans a taste for the new project by dropping “Selfish.” The mid-tempo ballad features R&B sounds familiar to the start of Timberlake’s solo career and shows off his vulnerable side as he sings about loving someone so intensely that it leads to feelings of envy.

The “SexyBack” singer opened up in a January interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe about what fans can expect from his first LP in six years, calling the tracks “incredibly honest” and “introspective,” as well as some that are “ f---ing fun.”

Timberlake also shared that he looked to his personal past for inspiration. He revealed, "I was able, on some of the songs, to look back at the past and have a real, not a refracted perspective of what it was because they always say ... you always hear that thing about, well, there's never any truth, there's just everybody's perspective of what happened. But to really look at it and be able to metabolize and verbalize my perspective on it, I don't think I've ever really done that before.”

"I think every artist probably says this, but it is my best work," Timberlake added.

A source recently told PEOPLE that the “Can’t Stop This Feeling!” singer’s new project came naturally when he felt compelled to get back into the studio after spending the past few years away from work to focus on his family.

Timberlake "just had this urge to create again,” the source said. “It was time.”

The source explained that he had “been fortunate to spend a lot of family time together in the past few years” with his wife of nearly 12 years Jessica Biel and their two sons, Silas, 8½, and Phineas, 3½, and simply felt excited to make new music again.
