Justin Timberlake announces free 1-night-only NYC concert at Irving Plaza

NEW YORK — Justin Timberlake is on the comeback trail — and he’s making a stop with a free concert at Irving Plaza in New York City on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
The former NSYNC frontman announced the one-night-only show Wednesday on his website and social media platforms.
The concert — which just so happens to fall on Timberlake’s 43rd birthday — comes shortly after he performed another free show at the Orpheum Theater in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.
Tickets for the Irving Plaza date, which aren’t guaranteed, are free but a credit card is required for validation. Requests — capped at two tickets per person — can be made through his website until 11:59 p.m. Friday.
The fine print includes a temporary $1 authorization to be held on credit cards and instantly refunded to ensure they’re active. Fans will be notified by email on Jan. 30 if they’re approved for the tickets, which will then be delivered to their Ticketmaster accounts the morning of the show.
Located in Union Square, Irving Plaza can accommodate up to 1,100 guests, according to owner Live Nation. The concert promoter purchased the ballroom-style music venue in 2007.
With buzz surrounding Timberlake’s first new solo music in six years, the 10-time Grammy Award winner is also scheduled to appear Thursday on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.
