He recently quit long-running show Grey's Anatomy and has been an original cast member since season one.

Fans and his colleagues are sad to see the star go, but apparently Justin Chambers had some mental health issues he has been working on, and now appears to be in a better place.

He's been playing the role of Dr. Alex Karev since 2005, thus, it's going to be a big change for the actor to not have the show in his life anymore.

Justin Gave A Statement About The Departure

Chambers gave a statement to Page Six about the departure, saying, “There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years. For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices."

He continued, "And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time."

Well, as they say, all good things must come to an end eventually.

His Co-Star Ellen Pompeo Is Disappointed

His co-star, Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on the show, expressed her disappointment on Twitter.

Vanity Fair tweeted, “#GreysAnatomy is about to feel one of its biggest losses yet," and Pompeo responded, “Truer words have never been spoken.”

It appears Chambers has been working on his mental health, and rumors have claimed the actor has been at Privé-Swiss, the same facility where Selena Gomez and Kit Harington have both been patients.

A source told Page Six, “Justin has been at (Privé-Swiss) for stress and life coaching. He has been seen in the area at different places over several weeks including at a restaurant at Old Saybrook — where he was nice and chatted to other diners, but looked very thin.”

Justin Was On The Show Since The Start

Page Six has also recently reported that Chambers is now looking forward to "life, family, love and friendship."

When the publication asked him about his stint at Prive Swiss, and whether or not he had actually been there, the actor replied, "maybe," and said "Grey’s has been very supportive of me and I’m very grateful and it’s been a great ride."

So, it appears Justin is on the road to being mentally healthy, and clearly quitting the show was a step in the right direction for the actor.

He's Now Looking Forward To Other Things

Despite the show being a huge part of Chambers's life up to this point, he's been on it for an incredibly long time, and perhaps a change is in order.

The actor confessed, “Of course, anywhere that you spend 15 years, it’s a big chunk of your life."

Let's hope Justin finds what he is looking for outside of the comfort of a job he has had for such a long time.

He's one of the last few original cast members left on the show, with the others being Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, Jr. Just how many more seasons will 'Grey's Anatomy' have? We'll have to wait and see.
