Justin Bieber, Machine Gun Kelly Pay Tribute to Rapper Chris King After Fatal Nashville Shooting: 'This One Hurts'

Chris King and Justin Bieber were friends, with the two one living together as housemates for more than a year

Justin Bieber and more stars are paying tribute to rapper Chris King after he was shot and killed in Nashville over the weekend.

King, 32, was a former housemate of Bieber’s, and was also a close friend and collaborator of rapper Trippie Redd.

“Love you bro. This one hurts,” Bieber wrote on his Instagram Stories on Saturday, April 20. “Please keep his family in your prayers. See you in paradise brother.”

In December, King, who was the CEO and founder of Snotty Nose Records, shared a photo and video with Bieber, 30, and revealed that he and the “Peaches” singer had lived together nearly a decade ago.

“fun fact: i lived at my brother krib for a full year and a half almost 10 years ago. Glad some people never change no matter what. All love, forever extended family. @justinbieber,” he captioned his post.

Trippie Redd, 24, also paid tribute to King on Instagram, writing he would “not be where I am today without [King],” as he introduced him to people like record executive Elliot Grainge.

“I am so hurt rn I can’t even think I love you bro come back!!!!! 😪😪😪 @whoischrisking 💔I can’t catch a break 🤮💔💔💔💔💔,” he captioned his post, while writing in another that King “had the best energy always.”

Stars like Machine Gun Kelly also weighed in with tributes, commenting, “chris was rare 🕊️🤧💔.”

King (who was born Christopher Cheeks) had performed at the Nashville Cannafest on Friday, April 19, according to his Instagram.

He was shot and killed in an alleyway in the city while hanging out with friends around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, the Metro Nashville Police Department said in a press release. A 29-year-old friend was also shot, but survived his injuries.

“Cheeks was at the location with a group of friends when three men began interacting with the group,” the release said. “The 29-year-old victim reported the group was hanging out cordially for some time before the three suspects attempted to rob his group of friends. It was then that he heard gunfire and realized he was struck.”

Police said Cheeks was found in the parking garage of the Hayes Street Hotel and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died. The release said they are working “strong, active leads” in the case.
