What happened in the first issue of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong?

In the first chapter of DC’s seven-issue Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong series, the Legion of Doom managed to infiltrate Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. While the antagonists were there to steal a Mother Box in an attempt to trap the Justice League in the Phantom Zone, things went awry when Supergirl, The Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl showed up to put an end to their scheme.

The fight resulted in the Legion of Doom being transported to a different world, with the team of antagonists eventually realizing they’ve landed on Skull Island. While Grodd went off to try and befriend King Kong, the Toyman found a way to bring a handful of monsters back to the DC Universe. The issue ended with Superman, who was moments away from proposing to Lois Lane, flying into battle to face Godzilla within the streets of Metropolis.

The solicitation for Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #2 reads, “LEGENDARY’S MONSTERVERSE HAS BEEN UNLEASHED ON THE DC UNIVERSE, AND CITIES ARE THREATENED ACROSS THE GLOBE! From Metropolis to Gotham City to Themyscira, the Justice League scrambles to protect the citizens from these raging titans! What role has the Legion of Doom played in all this monster madness, and how will the tide of battle change…when a hero falls?!”

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #2 is written by Brian Buccellato, illustrated by Christian Duce, colored by Luis Guerrero, and lettered by Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt. Main cover art comes from Drew Johnson and Romulo Fajardo Jr., while variant covers come from David Nakayama, Francesco Mattina, and Dustin Nguyen.
