Batman can handle almost anything — but as the Justice League Dark trailer shows, he needs a little help when it comes to the supernatural.
Batman calls upon John Constantine (who has a Doctor Strange-esque vibe going on in this movie), to help him combat demons invading the world, which are forcing law-abiding citizens to comment crimes.
Justice League Dark is following in the footsteps of Batman: The Killing Joke by bringing another R-rated film to the DC animated universe. (The latter caused a fair amount of controversy when it premiered over the summer at San Diego Comic-Con.)
The animated take on Justice League Dark is coming ahead of a live-action adaptation of the supernatural team from director Doug Liman.
Justice League Dark is directed by Jay Oliva and features the voices of Matt Ryan as Constantine (he also played the role on the short-lived live-action television series), Jason O’Mara (Terra Nova, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Batman, Camilla Luddington (Grey’s Anatomy) as Zatanna, Nicholas Turturro (NYPD Blue) as Deadman, Ray Chase (Final Fantasy XV videogame) as Jason Blood/Etrigan, Roger R. Cross (24, Arrow) as John Stewart/Swamp Thing, Jeremy Davies (Justified) as Ritchie Simpson, Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Sin City) as Wonder Woman, Jerry O’Connell (Stand By Me, Crossing Jordan) as Superman, Enrico Colantoni (Flashpoint, Veronica Mars) as Felix Faust, and Alfred Molina (The Da Vinci Code, Spider-Man 2) as Destiny.
The Blu-ray bonus features include sneak peeks at the DC animated features Teen Titans: The Judas Contract and Justice League: Gods and Monsters; featurettes on heroes like Swamp Thing, Constantine, Black Orchid, and Deadman; two episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold; and a feature on the film’s Comic-Con panel.
It will be available on Digital HD starting Jan. 24 and on Blu-ray/DVD on Feb. 7.
