Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has revealed more details about her anticipated memoir.

Random House, an imprint of Random House Publishing Group, shared in a statement that Jackson will publish her debut memoir, Lovely One, in September 2024. The Associated Press first announced the news of Jackson’s book in January.

“Mine has been an unlikely journey,” Jackson said in a statement. “But the path was paved by courageous women and men in whose footsteps I placed my own, road warriors like my own parents, and also luminaries in the law, whose brilliance and fortitude lit my way. This memoir marries the public record of my life with what is less known.”

Following the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer in 2022, Jackson became the first Black woman to serve as a justice on the United States Supreme Court. She was appointed by President Biden in June 2022.

“The person I will nominate will be someone with extraordinary qualifications, character, experience, and integrity, and that person will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the Supreme Court,” Biden said at the time. “It’s long overdue in my view. I made that commitment during my campaign for president, and I will keep that commitment.”

Jackson, who grew up in Miami, Florida, graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. She previously served on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, as well as a federal public defender and federal law clerk. From 1999 to 2000, she clerked for Justice Breyer.
