Just For Laughs & Thruline Team On Comedy Pilot Table Read

For a second straight year, the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and Thruline Entertainment are teaming to stage live table reads of spec comedy pilots during the fest.

They plan to stage two reads July 28 in Montreal: An American script to be directed by Jeremy Garelick (The Wedding Ringer), and a Canadian script to be directed by Jay Baruchel (Goon: Last Of The Enforcers, Man Seeking Woman). Bruce Hills and Paul Ronca continue to oversee this initiative for Just For Laughs. The fest runs through August 1.

Last year, Wunderkind, a spec comedy by Tyler Greene, was selected from among more than the 125 pilots submitted by agents and managers in the U.S. That table read featured Chris D’Elia, Bridgit Mendler and Affion Crockett and was also directed by Garelick. Wunderkind is currently in development at Seeso, NBCUniversal’s ad-free streaming comedy channel, with Thruline, Just For Laughs and Garelick producing via his Twin Padres Productions alongside showrunner David Zuckerman (Family Guy, Wilfred).

Management and production company Thruline’s client base includes: actors Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Jay Baruchel, Allison Janney, John Hawkes and Eric Stonestreet, and writers Scott Gimple (The Walking Dead), Christopher Moynihan (Marlon), John Rogers (Leverage), Kirk Ellis (John Adams), Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids), Noah Pink (Einstein), Steve Franks (Psych), and Tami Sagher (Girls). Through it’s now-consolidated Tagline moniker, Thruline produced USA’s Psych, as well as comedy series on ABC, NBC and Comedy Central. Thruline is currently in post-production on Jeff Ross Roasts the Police and in pre-production on Jeff Ross Presents: Roast Battle, both for Comedy Central. The latter project will broadcast live from this year’s Just For Laughs Festival. Thruline recently wrapped production on the feature film Hush and is currently in pre-production on two cable pilots and a digital series, details of which will be announced in coming weeks.
