Ronald Gladden is taking in the effects of his newfound fame!

While speaking to PEOPLE on the red carpet at the 2023 Emmy Awards, the Jury Duty star opens up about the most surreal part of the fame he's received since unknowingly starring on the Amazon Freevee series.

"I would just say the award shows in general like I never would have bet in a million years it'd be here," he gushes. "So just being surrounded by the caliber of people that are here [and] Golden Globes as well. It's just been insane."

Gladden also shares that his life post Jury Duty has involved "commercials [and] promotional work," as well as "a deal with Amazon."

Since his appearance on the show, he admits that he's been inundated with requests on social media that have varied from personal to professional.

"You know, the DMs are anything and everything from business offers to propositions, you name it," he quips.

Jury Duty followed a mock jury selection and trial. Everyone on set was a paid improv actor — except for Gladden, who really thought he was part of a televised trial. He met a cast of characters, including actor James Marsden — who played an elitist version of himself — a man who wore a camelback water pouch on his back the entire time and a man who readily declared himself as "racist" to get out of jury duty.

Gladden also tells PEOPLE that he had suspicions about his role on the series "on the third day."

"They got me on camera saying like this feels like reality TV — literally day three," he laughs. "So like from the get go, I kind of had a feeling something just wasn't right but never in my right mind would I think the entire world around me was fake and everyone was an actor, so I never entertained that thought."
