The military enlistment date for four members of BTS is swiftly approaching. RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook are the only BTS members out of the group’s seven-person lineup who have yet to begin their mandatory military service obligations. Jin began serving last year, and J-Hope and Suga enlisted earlier this year. BIGHIT Music’s latest update on the enlistment process doesn’t share an exact date but details the current procedural schedule.

“Thank you to the fans who always love BTS. We would like to provide follow-up information regarding the military enlistment of RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook,” the agency shared in a statement via Weverse. “RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are enlisting as active-duty soldiers in the Army to fulfill their military service obligations.”

According to the statement, RM and V will enlist individually through their own procedures, while Jimin and Jung Kook will enlist at the same time.

“There will be no separate official event on the day of their entry into the recruit training center,” BIGHIT clarified, referring to the event that usually includes send-offs from family members but has previously attracted crowds of fans. “We ask that you only give a warm send-off and encouragement to RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook with your heart.”

Suga is the only BTS member thus far to complete his mandatory service as a social service agent rather than an active-duty soldier in the military. He received shoulder surgery in 2020, likely leading to the alternative service method. In South Korea, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve for two years.

All seven members of BTS have fortified their musical presence ahead of their enlistment. Last month, Jung Kook released his debut album Golden, while V released his debut, Layover, in September. Suga — as August D — shared his new album D-Day in April, and Jimin’s project Face was released in March. Jin shared his single “The Astronaut” ahead of his enlistment last year. RM closed out 2022 with his album Indigo, and J-Hope released Jack in the Box last July.

In September, it was revealed that BTS would renew their contract with HYBE and BIGHIT Music. Each BTS member is said to have plans to sign exclusive agreements with the company following a board resolution with BIGHIT Music. The contract will include future releases from 2025 onwards when their hiatus is expected to conclude.
