Paramount+ will release a new documentary titled JUNE, which will premiere in the U.S. and Canada on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. This project will take a closer look at the life and celebrated career of the late country icon, June Carter Cash. Furthermore, it will contain interviews with popular faces like Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Kacey Musgraves.

June Carter Cash died on May 15, 2003, at the age of 73. According to CBS News, she had undergone a heart valve replacement surgery on May 7, 2003, and was critical since then. She died from complications from this surgery. Her husband of 35 years, Johnny Cash, and her family members were beside her at the time of her passing.

According to a Paramount+ press release, the description of the upcoming documentary states, “Produced by Sandbox Productions, Sony Music Vision, and Maxine Productions (a part of Sony Pictures Television), JUNE shines an important spotlight on the history of country music and the mark the Carter and Cash families made on the genre before diving into the complex life of the legendary June Carter Cash.”

It further states,

“The five-time Grammy® Award-winning singer, comedian, musician, actor and author has opened for Elvis, appeared on-screen with Robert Duvall and Jane Seymour and co-wrote one of the most recognizable country songs of all time, “Ring of Fire.” Perhaps, at times, overshadowed by her iconic husband Johnny Cash, the time is now for June to take center stage.”

How many children did June Carter Cash have?

June was married thrice and had three children with each husband. With her first husband, Carl Smith, she had Rebecca Carlene Smith aka Carlene Carter. Edwin “Rip” Nix, her second husband was a police officer. June and Edwin had a daughter named Rosie Nix Adams. However, she died on October 24, 2003, from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

With country legend, Johnny Cash, her third husband, she had John Carter Cash. John is currently a country singer-songwriter and musician.
