Julia Roberts Shares Romantic Photo with Husband Danny Moder for His Birthday: He 'Lights Up Our World'

Julia Roberts is celebrating her husband Danny Moder on his birthday!

Roberts, 56, shared a photo of herself and Moder lovingly gazing into each others' eyes to Instagram Wednesday as Moder turned 55. "Happy Birthday to this amazing man who lights up our world. ✨⚡️✨⚡️ #131💞," she wrote in a caption to the post.

Roberts first met her husband, a professional cinematographer who has been working on Hollywood films since 1996, on the set of 2001's The Mexican. Moder is credited as a member of that movie's camera department on IMDb; Roberts costarred in the film with Brad Pitt.

The couple married in a surprise wedding they held on July 4, 2002 after inviting guests to "celebrate Independence Day." The marriage marked both Roberts and Moder's second time tying the knot: Roberts was married to country singer Lyle Lovett in the mid-1990s, while Moder was married to makeup artist Vera Steimberg prior to his relationship with Roberts.

Since Roberts and Moder married, they have welcomed three children together: 19-year-old twins Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter and son Henry Daniel, 16.

The couple largely keep details of their relationship private, but Roberts did share a photo of her and Moder kissing on Instagram in July 2023 to mark their 21st wedding anniversary.

During Roberts' appearance on the Today show in December to promote her recent film Leave the World Behind, she called Moder "our anchor" when she was asked about life as a parent.

“It all starts with Danny Moder," she said at the time, adding that Moder is "our person and in the most beautiful way, the captain of our ship" in her family. “For me, understanding how deeply felt life could be really started with him," she shared at the time.

Roberts has made sharing photos of the couple kissing a regular feature of her social media posts marking her wedding anniversaries with Moder. She previously shared a snapshot of the pair locking lips for their 20th anniversary in July 2022, and told SiriusXM's Jess Cagle earlier that year that she feels kissing plays an important role in their relationship.

"20 years kissing Danny Moder," she said at the time, adding, "More kissing," when asked how they were celebrating the milestone. "Two bathroom sinks and lots of kissing [is the secret to marriage]."
