Julia Fox went all in for her upcoming memoir Down the Drain.

In a recent interview with The New York Times ahead of the book's release in October, the actress and first-time author, 33, recalled rushing to finish the book for publisher Simon & Schuster.

"I had to turn it in in, like, three months or something. I thought I had six months," she said.

"The book swallowed my life. Everything became book, book, book. I didn’t go out," Fox continued. "I didn’t take other jobs. I was doing it for me. It felt really cathartic. It was really important to be honest and vulnerable."

"My hope now would be that someone reads it and thinks: 'She went through this and look at her now. I can get over anything,' " she added to the outlet.

Fox also shared that some people still ask her whether she used a ghostwriter to write Down the Drain. The actress has previously emphasized that she "wrote every single word in this book" while premiering the book's cover on TikTok in March.

"I’ve had people be like: 'Off record, between you and I, did you use a ghostwriter? Did somebody help you?' " Fox said. "It’s kind of offensive. I wouldn’t make that statement if there were some ghostwriter out in the world — that feels really stupid."

"It goes back to people always underestimating me or not taking me seriously," she added of any conversation surrounding whether she actually wrote the whole book herself. "What else is new?"

When the Uncut Gems star appeared on the red carpet for the Victoria's Secret World Tour 2023 in New York earlier this month, she told E! News that she only touched "very lightly" on her relationship with Kanye West, whom she briefly dated in early 2022. While speaking with the Times, the outlet noted that she does not describe any sexual experiences with the musician, even though the book contains other depictions of sex.

"Because there, like, wasn’t any," she told the outlet. "It wasn’t really about that."

Fox broke out with 2019's Uncut Gems and most recently appeared in last year's Puppet. She noted to the Times that she is filming another movie soon and that she recently wrote a screenplay with her friend Sara Apple.

"Ultimately my goal is to fade into obscurity and write scripts, develop movies, TV shows, maybe children’s books," Fox said of her current career goals. "I would like to be able to hole up somewhere and write at my leisure."

Fox's memoir Down the Drain releases Tuesday, Oct. 10.
